QIGONG - ENRICHING PROGRAMS

Iron and Silk - Balancing External and Internal Strengthening

Iron and Silk - Balancing External and Internal Strengthening with Wudangshan and Xiantianwujimen Qigong - 5 days

Iron has the quality of hardness. Silk has the quality of softness. Temper iron with fire and it can form limitless shapes. Woven together, strands of silk will form the strongest bonds.

When iron and silk are balanced, hardness will embrace softness and softness will embody the hardness. Xiantianwujimen qigong embodies the essence of softness and is known for its effectiveness in cultivating the internal energies of jing, qi, and shen.

Wudangshan qigong embodies the essence of hardness and is known for its effectiveness in training muscular-skeletal strength and spinal flexibility. The simultaneous training of these two systems of qigong will result in building a foundation of physical or external strengthening that is necessary for the strengthening of internal organs and circulation of generative, vital, and spirit energies.

In this program, participants will learn how to optimize the benefits of breath regulation with the martial-like quality of the Wudangshan Animals and maximize the effect of martial prowess using the qigong of breath regulation.

Cross-training of iron and silk is the key to integrating external and internal strengthening.

Requirements - Qigong 1-5

Qigong of the Mysterious Female

What is the Mysterious Female? It is the Tao, the Dark Womb, and the source of all that is born and unborn. This source is the primordial energy of life. In birth, we emerge from the Mysterious Female, in life we are nourished by her, and in death we return to her embrace. Central to the practice of qigong, the Taoist art of health and longevity, is the cultivation of this life-giving energy. Connecting to the breath of life, clearing the meridians, strengthening the physical body, and resting in the stillness of the Womb are the key to living a healthy and virtuous life.

One of the most important texts of Taoist Female Internal Alchemy is The Mother Empress of the West Liturgy. In it is coded the secret teachings of how to cultivate generative energy.

In this program we will:

  • Use the forms of Xiantianwujimen Qigong to reveal the secret teachings of the Mother Empress of the West Liturgy.
  • Practice qigong that highlights the cultivation of yin and yang energies.
  • Learn about the Taoist immortals who pioneered techniques of nourishing female and male generative energies.
  • And explore and celebrate our own gender’s energetic connection to the Mysterious Female.

The energy of the Mysterious Female in Taoism is intimately tied to the nourishing quality of generative energy. Please note that there will be jing practice in this program.

An Invitation to the Primordial Limitless Gate Lineage of Taoism from Eva Wong

This 4-day program integrates streams of disciplines that define the qigong, meditation, and philosophy of Primordial Limitless Gate Taoism.

Some of you have experienced the health benefits from qigong. Some have begun to explore the Taoist philosophy that is the basis of the arts of health and longevity. Others have brushed the limitless nature of consciousness through Taoist meditation. And for some of you, this will be the first time you will be introduced into my Taoist lineage.

An in-depth practice of Qigong Levels 1 and 2

In Qigong 1 are forms that introduce the essence of qigong practice - self massage, bone marrow washing, and calisthenics. We will explore how each of these forms can be used to enhance and repair muscular-skeletal functions, align energy channels, and build tendon and bone strength.

In Qigong 2, we practice and explore two of the most potent qigong systems: The 9 Self Massage System and the 12 Tendon-Changing System. The 9 Self Massage System is specifically designed to open energy blockages, stimulate energy centers, and guide the flow of energy in the body. The 12 Tendon-Changing System is one of the most effective forms of qigong that can be used to increase spinal mobility and strength, and introduce overall flexibility and strength to ligaments, muscles, and tendons.

An introduction to methods of meditation that are unique to the Primordial Limitless Gate lineage.

The cultivation of the physical and energetic body builds the foundation of the cultivation of mind. Meditation provides us with a consciousness that makes the body safe for gathering and storing internal energy. Qi, or internal energy, feeds whatever arises in consciousness. What arises - be it anger, kindness, fear, and even wisdom - are all intensified by qi. It is therefore important for us not just to cultivate qi, but be aware of what is arising in our consciousness every moment. Primordial Limitless Gate meditation can help us become aware of what arises, and show us how to protect qi from bing drained or be used to feed negativity.

Discussions of Taoist philosophy

No training in Taoism can be complete without understanding the philosophical outlook that inspired the arts of health, longevity, and mental well-being. How we view the world, relate to others, balance our worldly and spiritual life, and contribute to welfare of all form the essence of Taoist philosophy. I will present highlights of the Taoist outlook from my various translations of Taoist classics that are both profound and practical.

In these 4 days of qigong, meditation, and discussion of Taoist philosophy, we will nourish the body, expand our consciousness, and glimpse the mysterious world of Taoism.

Refining Your Consciousness with Hua-tu Five Animals Qigong

From the oneness of Tao yin and yang emerged. From yin and yang the five elements metal, wood, water, fire, and water were created. From the 5 elements, the bagua, the eight building blocks of the universe arose. As it is externally, so it is internally. This cosmology of the universe parallels the creation and circulation of energy (qi) in our bodies.

In this program, we will use the practices of qigong to embody and understand the energies of yin and yang, the five elements, and the bagua in our body. Experience the display of energy in the meridians, internal organs, and the elixir fields (dantiens), and become part of the mysterious and subtle process of the journey from the oneness of the Tao to the diversity of all the ten thousand myriad things.

Alchemist, Warrior, Meditator

Alchemists seek the path of health and longevity. Martial artists walk the path of the warrior. Meditators live a life of stillness and clarity. All three paths embrace simplicity, virtue, and impeccability in thought and action. For centuries, internal alchemy, martial arts, and meditation have been practiced by Taoists to enhance health, build discipline, and cultivate mind. In many ways, the key to the simultaneous cultivation of body and mind lies in the crossing-training of internal alchemy, martial arts, and meditation.

This is a four-day retreat in integrating the alchemist, warrior, and meditator within you. Experience how martial arts can enhance the practices of qigong and meditation. Learn how to use qigong to cultivate stillness and clarity. Become a meditator who is strong in body, simple and clear in thought, and virtuous in life.

Exploring the Energetic Terrain of the Body

As it is externally, so it is internally. The physical terrain of the external world parallels the energetic terrain of the body.

In working with physical terrain, Sunzi’s Art of War is unparalleled in describing geographical features and the strategies to maneuver through them. In understanding the energetic terrain of the body, Taoist internal alchemy offers powerful approaches to identifying energy centers and pathways as well as techniques that allow energy to move smoothly and peacefully.

In this program, we will use Sunzi’s system of terrain classification in conjunction with qigong to explore our internal universe.

This unique program integrates the wisdom of Sunzi’s Art of War with the qigong and a healthy lifestyle.

Requirements: qigong 1 and 2

This program is a requirement for advancement into Qigong Level 7.
